I’ve had this suit for the past two winter and keep wanting it to be just right but if you’re a taller fella watch out for the xxl cause it’ll make you feel like your torso is being compressed. Also the legs are a little short and sometimes ride up above your boots. Solid wetsuit and super high quality materials but if you’re over 6 feet a little uncomfortable. The smoothest wetsuit I’ve ever slid on my limbs.
In my experience These are the best suits for Northern California Dawn Patrol. Light, flexible, quick drying, super smooth and comfortable inside, does not seem to absorb water. This suit is The real deal.
I have had a lot of wetsuits, all prices, and many different thicknesses, but Matuse is at an entirely different level. When I put this suit on it slips on super smooth and feels amazing against my skin. It feels like I am wearing cozy pajamas, seriously. Never been so comfortable, never been this warm, while still having flexibility. I have their 4/3 version too, and although the 5/4 is a bit harder to get on and off, (which is to be expected), it’s still about a flexible as other 4/3 suits I’ve had from other brands. Geoflex for the win🤙 I am a bodysurfer, and water photographer, so I am up to my neck for hours everyday, and I always say, as long as the suit is comfortable, I’d rather be “too warm”, and be able to flush and cool off, than be stuck feeling too cold, and not being able to warm up! I’m a believer in Matuse. Keep up the good work.
I saw Matuse suits tend a little small so I got a full size up. I am 5,10" and 165lb, and the Large fits perfectly. Range of motion is great and feels like a good 4/3, and I'm a bunch of sessions in and absolutely no leaks. I am impressed how well designed the suit is, everything fits right and works. I am over buying wetsuits from private equity firms and acting like a 5/4 is overkill in Ventura. Comfort goes a long way. I love the suit. Also, I got the booties and they're sick too.
