This is a well designed wetsuit with thoughtful touches and a good fit once broken in.
Initially I was nervous about the chest and neck panel being constrictive but this loosened after several wears to be form fitting.
Pros: high buoyancy 4.5 mm neoprene across front panels of chest and legs while thinner neoprene runs along the back side panels.
Chest panel captures heat without using a fleece lining, which soaks up pee and masks sub par neoprene.
Arms have minimal resistance unlike my other suits that cause fatigue.
Neoprene seems to be holding strong after several uses but we will see in time. In contrast to my Orca and Xterra which popped holes when I sneezed too hard.
Cons: restrictive in chest and constricts neck before breakin eased this (thank god)
No interior panel behind back zipper to redirect water out of the suit. Zipper isn’t 100% water tight but after the mild trickle of water seeps through and I squeal like a little girl, I forget about it.
I’ve owned Orcas, O’neill’s, Blue 70’s, Roka and Xterras but this suit is now my preferred. Don’t swim away from the swim suits @matuse!
Designed as triathlon suit used as bodysurfing suit by many. Light weight and just enough warmth to handle central California winter surf with a hood. Super flexible with high ankles to provide quick flushing. Back zip is perfect for bodysurfing as chest zips tend to jet water into suit when riding certain direction. I think Matuse should start marketing this suit as a bodysurfing surf as well. Simply the closest thing I have found to bare skin. Thanks for donating one to “Wave of the Day” winner at the 50th annual Ventura Bodysurfing Classic 2024. I’ll wear this suit until you make a better one. CF
This suit is incredibly comfortable, light, flexible, fast-drying and easy to put on. It’s my favorite suit, ever, including all surf suits and open water swim suits. You will not be disappointed. Oh, and it's really warm; which surprised me and was my only reservation when I was deciding between this and a thermal version from elsewhere. I can't attest to durability, but so far, a few months in and it's in perfect shape. I use gloves to put on and rinse and hang at waist after each use. No chaffing or other hotspots. No leakage and no gap in my lower back. Fit is excellent. I'm a fan and this suit has probably convinced me to shift my surf arsenal over to Matuse as I swap each type out.
True to size. Recommend to follow size guide.
Quality is good so far.
Super easy to get in and out of-very warm for how lightweight the material is-but slips right off surfboard deck. They really should clearly note this is a triathlete wetsuit
