You don't need to purchase a 4/3 or 5/4 to be warm (In So-Cal). This 3mm suit is absolutely the warmest suit I've ever worn. The rubber is so incredibly soft and supple(ya, I said supple). It goes on so easily and comes off just as easily. The smooth rubber on the inside of the suit makes it really comfortable and for reasons I can't explain, keeps me incredibly warm. The integrated hood was a worry for me but I was totally wrong. If you don't want it on, it very comfortably slides off and you can't even tell that it's behind your head. When it's on, absolutely no water gets in and for those of us with surfers ear, that is a welcome advantage. This high-end rubber needs to be taken care of, I rinse this suit THOROUGHLY. Don't spend this much money on a top-of-the-line suit and leave it in your car to rot. Or, DO and just buy another one sooner. I have a TUMO that I've had for 7 years and the seams are still totally tight and the suit is still really warm, a little fraying on the wrists and ankles but it's still one of my go-to suits for the colder parts of the winter. Yes, it's a little pricey but I assure you, if you take care of this suit, it'll last you 3 times longer than the budget suits out there. For what it's worth, I have 2 Tumo's, This Scipio, and 5 Dante's, a short John, 2 jacket tops and a spring suit. Safe to say, I only wear Matuse suits.
I now only wear Matuse suits! I look forward to the water getting cold enough to wear the 3m suits J have. This is the first hooded suit I have ever owned and J wore it today for the first time and wow!! It’s actually more comfortable
Then the scipio With out a hood. Thank you!
