The Hoplite foot soldiers of ancient Greece had the most advanced armor of their era. They were fast, fierce and well protected. Modern day surfers can now own these same qualities by wearing a Matuse Hoplite suit. No spear or shield necessary.

Solution-Specific Features

  1. THERMOBELT DESIGN
  2. Titanium-coated, smooth-skin chest and back panels provide optimum insulation and wind protection.

  3. GEOPRENE STRATEGIC PANELING
  4. Super-low modulus, max-flex Geoprene that balances the body's thermostatic line (i.e. you don't get hot & tired from fighting your suit or cold and bitter from that oil-based neoprene).

  5. HYDRASILK NYLON
  6. Won't snag; doesn't suck; butter soft. This hydrophobic material (i.e. rejects moisture) is your windbreaker in the water. Makes you feel all buttery inside.

  7. WINGED SHOULDERS
  8. Human engineered seams enable paddling harmony yet provide a static neck to minimize torque that causes chaffing and flushing.

  9. SADDLE SEAT
  10. Inspired by Jet-ski suits, this panel is designed to withstand many-a-swell spent straddling. Better yet, the Saddle Seat's form-active design keeps your undercarriage happy because it won't ride-up.

  11. LATENT MINI-ZIP
  12. Provides lateral movement and lowers resistance (& time spent getting in & out of your ichiban game).

  13. 100% GLUED AND BLIND STITCHED SEAMS
  14. A powerful duo that provides durability, flexibility and warmth.

Technology in this Ichiban Product

  • Geoprene is derived from 99.7% pure limestone. It’s warmer (98% water impermeable compared to the standard 69%), lighter and lasts longer than oil-based neoprene. It’s also kinder to Mother Nature since it wastes less biomass and comes from a sustainable resource—not petroleum. Geoprene is exclusive to Yamamoto Corporation and Matuse, Inc.
